Ronscavalles Day 3

So I arrived in Ronscavalles, weary worn, almost weather beaten, half frozen, body screeching and questioning why & what I was doing!!!

However, upon arriving into sunshine and spending 2-3hrs thawing out in the sun and sipping red wine....the shower didnt (10sec spurts do NOT count)!!!

Went to the Pilgrim Mass and was part of the "blessing service" which was actually heart warming. Dinner wasn´t so much to write home about but more to choke on....LOL dry OVER cooked trout served with fries cooked possibly the day before....lucky for pasta as entree and the glasses of red wine...that was Pilgrim Menu in Ronscavalles!!

Sleeping in the OLD Monastry was interesting to say the least - with 112 people in ONE OPEN area...need I say more - certainly an experience I will NOT forget.

So Monday morning looms amidst chaotic noise of overly keen Pilgrims to hit the tar again....clearly they did NOT climb the Pyrenees but chose to commence in Ronscavalles....NO brekky and the 2 cafe´s we were told would be open to hungry & caffeine depleted Pilgrims in the next town were NOT....took 2hrs total to get COFFEE...LOL! Lucky for pockets of museli bars.

  1. Ouch..no coffee! That's why I actually took coffee "bags" with me...they have them in the states...Or I would have walked the wrong way or something!! Coffee first...then Camino!

  2. The candlelit pilgrims blessing after mass is very special and is some that stays with you long after you have returned home.
Good grief if there had been no coffee available in Burgette I think Frances might have revolted and headed home!
    Bonne route
