So i have survived day two! yer and what a day - nasty nasty icey weather blew through and was NOT expected!!
Departing Orisson at 8.10am after a "bowl" of coffee N bread N jam for brekky we started up the remainder of the killer mountain!
It blew an icey wind and was about 2C - I was not prepared or dressed and even with more layers my ears nearly fruz off N my nose N lips N fingers!! It was a very hard slog and the UP was a constant and boggy ground lots poo (sheep, cows N horses) and then finally the descent was as steep down as going up and the knees got a hammering and the pace at a shuffling creeping pace - BUT I have arrived in Ronscavalles in one piece and NOT a hotspot or blister in sight - YAY!!
I have a new friend - Edwin my yankee born Swede who was my walking partner today N was good to have and helped each other through a tough day. Ronscavalles is an old Monastery Villa with no shops etc just food, wine N Mass! :-)
Day 2 down only 30 left.....LOL
Good luck Jacqueline with your walk to Santiago. Am enjoying the pics, a reminder of when I walked that route last year. You are an inspiration to us all for your determination, and spirit.
ReplyDeleteHope your journey is as fruitful as it was for me. Love from strangers set me up, for a life changing experience. Don`t fear the blisters, they will come and go, as will the pilgrims, but your memories will last forever.
Peaceful Warrior.
Following with great interest. No hotspots/blisters--way to go. Did not expect such cold weather but then, it's the Pyrenees. Buen Camino
