I suffered a heart attack 3 years ago at the "tender" age of 40! I was fit, healthy and not into drugs nor did I smoke - SURPRISED? hell yeah! So I now have a 2" stent in my left descending artery which they found 90% inactive. There is bad family heart history but hadn't been within the females...the men had all the bad luck...well now we know it doesn't discriminate with age or gender!!! Just happened to be sitting under the wrong branch of the apple tree when I was conceived...YAY for me! ;-)
So, get on with life is the motto - I'm still here to tell the tale and therefore want to spruik from the treetops about heart awareness especially for young women as I did NOT recognise the symptoms of having a heart attack nor did I suspect.....BUT it can and does happen - so if I can stop one young woman from having a heart attack by creating awareness of the symptoms then it will be worth the battle and heart ache I endured.
"THE NO.1 KILLER OF WOMEN: HEART DISEASE KILLS MORE WOMEN EVERY YEAR than all cancers combined!
My walk also proves that because you have a heart attack your life is NOT over - recover as your Cardiologist advises and MOVE ON....live life and never look back - you cannot change the past but you can change the future - that is my goal!! CARPE DIEM....
